Approaches to a BRICS-centric Global Monetary Architecture
This seminar inaugurates a new series of online academic events jointly organized by the Higher School of Economics (HSE University) and the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), marking the beginning of a long-term academic partnership between two leading institutions in Russia and Brazil. The seminars are organised with the contribution of undergraduate programme International Relations and Global Studies.
The initiative aims to foster dialogue between Russian and Brazilian scholars, researchers, and students by creating a shared platform for interdisciplinary exchange. It will address some of the most pressing issues in global economic governance, international relations, and regional integration, with particular emphasis on the Global South’s perspective.
Through regular seminars, this collaborative series will explore critical themes such as the role of emerging powers in shaping global financial architectures, regional cooperation strategies, sustainable development agendas, and the evolving geopolitical landscape. The project seeks to deepen mutual understanding, stimulate joint research, and encourage the co-production of knowledge in response to contemporary global challenges.
